Discovering My Path: From Passion to Purpose

My path toward HR started while I was a student in the university. While managing a cheerleading team I learned how powerful collaboration and teamwork can be. That sparked my interest in HR. I started exploring global career opportunities and I came across Renesas. What stood out to me was its focus on cutting-edge semiconductor technology and its commitment to people and diversity.  

I joined Renesas in April 2024. From my early days at the company supporting graduate recruitment to leading talent engagement activities and career events my journey here has been filled with a lot of opportunities. After completing training programs, I was entrusted with managing graduate recruitment for multiple Business Units and Enterprise Foundations. Alongside graduate recruitment, I started leading talent engagement activities, including our offer ceremony and New Graduate onboarding events. This valuable experience provided me a chance to see HR from multiple angles – from recruitment to engagement and onboarding.

Stepping Up: Early Opportunities and Real Responsibility

Just two months after joining, I was assigned to lead a large-scale career forum attended by more than 6,000 students from international backgrounds. For someone who had just taken their first steps as a professional, this was a significant challenge but thanks to the support from my manager and team, the event was a great success. It was also a great opportunity to learn and see how my ideas become reality.

As I had recently been a student myself, I was able to propose ideas that resonated with the young talent. Seeing them come to life was incredibly rewarding and it makes me very happy now to see some of the students I met at that event thriving as my colleagues at Renesas. Through this experience, I personally felt that Renesas has a culture that gives young employees responsibilities early on. This experience of challenge, support, and growth has become a major source of confidence in my career.

A Culture That Encourages You to Grow

While Renesas is originally a Japanese company, the diversity of the people here is one of its greatest strengths and what makes it a truly global organization. This is something I really value. Working alongside colleagues from around the world has helped me develop a global perspective and grow not only as an HR professional but also as a person.

People I've met through various Employee Resource Groups (ERGs), networking events, and training have become reliable allies I can easily turn to for advice. The warmth and openness of my teammates have helped me gain confidence, take ownership of projects, and learn from leaders who are always willing to listen and guide. I believe this is an experience and joy of working that are rarely seen in other Japanese companies.

Advice to Future Graduates: Believe in Your Potential

If you’re just starting out, my biggest advice is this: actively pursue your interests and communicate them. You’ll discover unexpected opportunities, new connections, and personal growth. You’ll find colleagues and mentors who will listen, support you, and encourage your ideas. Renesas is a place that respects your aspirations and helps you turn them into reality.
