Designing the Hardware that Helps Power AI
3 Card/Text Snippet
Alexandra Delon has built her long career around innovation in semiconductor design. Today, as an Analog Layout Engineer at Renesas, she combines deep technical expertise with global leadership, helping teams across continents deliver technologies that power tomorrow's connected and intelligent world.
Based in Sophia Antipolis, France, Alexandra's journey has taken her through several leading technology companies, including Wipro, CSR, Samsung, and NXP. Along the way, she worked on a wide range of products, including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC, and RFID technologies, while gaining valuable experience as a multi-site manager.
Her move to Renesas came through a former manager who invited her to join a new team and take part in a new adventure. The opportunity to help build something new and contribute her expertise was one she couldn't resist.
Today, Alexandra leads a worldwide layout team spanning France, Italy, the United States, and India. Together, they work on key power products, including controllers, drivers, and point-of-load (POL) solutions that support a wide range of applications and future technologies.
Building More Than Chips
While semiconductor design is highly technical, Alexandra believes some of the most important challenges are about people.
One of her key priorities is creating stronger connections between teams, breaking down silos, and encouraging engineers to share knowledge across locations and disciplines. She also focuses on harmonizing layout methodologies and promoting best practices that help teams deliver high-quality designs efficiently and consistently.
For Alexandra, successful innovation happens when talented engineers work together toward a common goal.
Contributing to the AI Journey
AI is creating demand for increasingly efficient and powerful hardware. Alexandra and her team contribute to this evolution by helping design chips that are smaller, more capable, and more competitive.
When asked about the impact of her work, Alexandra keeps her answer straightforward:
"Making chips smaller and more powerful, and differentiating from competitors. Participating in the AI adventure at my level."
It's a reminder that advancing AI requires contributions from specialists across many engineering disciplines. Every improvement in chip design helps create the foundation for future innovation.

Engineering Without Borders
One aspect of Alexandra's role that she particularly values is the opportunity to work with colleagues around the world.
Managing and collaborating with teams across multiple countries brings diverse perspectives, experiences, and problem-solving approaches together. It also creates continuous opportunities to learn from others while helping them succeed.
For engineers who enjoy both technical challenges and global collaboration, Alexandra's experience highlights the unique opportunities available at Renesas.
Alexandra's Advice for those who consider joining Renesas
"Please come and see! This is a nice place where you will work a lot, but also learn a lot from your stakeholders."
For her, continuous learning is one of the most valuable parts of the engineering experience and one of the reasons she continues to enjoy the work after more than 20 years in the industry.
