Staff Business Development Specialist

Job Description

Some markets you join. This one you help build.

AI compute is outgrowing the ground. As GPU and AI-class systems move into space and other demanding high-reliability settings, the power electronics that feed them have to survive radiation, wide temperature swings, and years of operation with no chance of a service call, at volumes well beyond anything the space industry has produced before. Standard commercial-grade parts cannot meet that bar. Renesas can, and we are opening a new high-reliability (Hi-Rel) growth area to do it: radiation-cognizant power management built on our power portfolio and decades of Hi-Rel heritage.

We are looking for a Staff Business Development Specialist to lead the way into this market. This is a market-creation role, not a territory to maintain. You will find where the real opportunities are, build the customer base from the first conversation, and turn early technical engagements into design wins. You will sit across the table from the GPU and AI-silicon vendors, space-systems primes, and hyperscale operators defining this field, and you will work alongside our product, design, applications, and sales teams to turn those relationships into revenue. If you want your fingerprints on an industry while it is still taking shape, this is that job.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

• Identify, pursue, and capture new business in a market Renesas is entering for the first time, from first contact through design-in and production.

• Own senior technical and commercial relationships across the target accounts, from AI-silicon vendors to space-systems primes to hyperscale operators.

• Size the addressable and serviceable market, and build the go-to-market plan that prioritizes accounts, applications, and timing.

• Shape customer requirements early, respond to RFIs and RFPs, and lead proposal development in coordination with product and applications teams.

• Develop pricing and value strategy for radiation-cognizant solutions relative to commodity and fully rad-hard alternatives.

• Run competitive intelligence on incumbent power and Hi-Rel suppliers, and use it to sharpen positioning and roadmap input.

• Support executive reviews and corporate funding proposals with market data, revenue projections, and a defensible business case.

• Work cross-functionally with design, applications, product marketing, and regional sales to align the portfolio with customer needs and to drive design-ins to closure.

Qualifications

• 10 or more years in business development, strategic sales, or product marketing, in semiconductors, power management, aerospace and defense, or high-reliability and space markets.

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related field. An MBA is a plus.

• A track record of opening new markets and closing design-ins or partnerships, ideally where the market did not yet exist.

• Direct experience working at, or selling into, GPU and AI-accelerator vendors or hyperscale operators is a major plus.

• The ability to hold technical discussions on power delivery and mixed-signal design with customer engineers, and to translate them into commercial strategy.

• Strong proposal, negotiation, and executive-communication skills.

• Comfort operating in an export-controlled, high-reliability environment.

• Willingness to travel to customers and Renesas sites.

• An independent operator who works effectively across US and Japan-based leadership.
