The Infrastructure Digital Power Applications team is seeking a Senior Staff Validation Engineer who enjoys working on cutting-edge power solutions for server and infrastructure processor/SOC applications.
You will be leading the validation efforts in developing pace-setting digital multiphase DC-DC power converter products with Renesas’ advanced control architectures using automated test tools and software for the development lab environment.
We’re looking for someone eager to learn, ready to hit the ground running and help define the new frontier of Digital Multiphase power management. This is an opportunity to contribute at a high level to the technical and commercial success of the corporation.
Responsibilities
- Work with design and applications engineering to develop a validation test plan, provide inputs for automation to ensure corner cases are covered, and drive testing.
- Work with internal customers to help guide the automation team in the generation of automation tools, flows, and methodologies to accomplish the product validation goals in a robust, time-efficient way, with maximal coverage.
- Collect, summarize, analyze, and present validation test data, and make recommendations for design or application changes based on the resulting data.
- Participate in FPGA-based design prototyping and validation to verify key features and functions will meet expectations.
- Work with design and other staff to find solutions when targets are not met.
- Develop valuable IP by finding unique solutions to critical customer problems.
- Assist marketing with analysis to support a monetary value of IP.
- Mentor junior engineers and technicians and be the liaison between the internal customers and the automation team.
- Education: BS in Engineering or technical equivalent.
- Minimum of 8 years’ experience in the power management industry.
- Experience with multiphase digitally enabled DC/DC converters.
- Understanding of multiphase VR systems.
- Experience with firmware-enabled products is required.
- Technical experience beyond traditional power management topics due to the embedded SOC nature of the products.
- Understanding of control loop theory and its application in power converters
- Proficiency with a full complement of lab equipment including network analyzers, oscilloscopes, and waveform generators.
- Working knowledge of schematic capture, simulation, and layout tools.
- Proficiency in data analysis using Excel or JMP.
- Experience with automation of lab testing and common software, drivers, and APIs.
- Proficiency in Python, C or other Object-Oriented Programming language.
- Must possess excellent communications skills, both oral and written.
- Ability to translate market understanding to product capability and ultimately to market adoption
