Senior Principal Design Engineer

Reporting to the Sr. Director of Engineering you will have responsibility for the architecture and robustness of power management IC’s. Your responsibilities encompass technology roadmaps and IC developments which spans product architecture through IC validation.

Responsibilities

• Specify/select process technology to meet product efficiency, cost and robustness requirements
• Partner will internal fabs and foundries on targeted device engineering for performance and robustness enhancements
• Define and quantify tradeoffs among IC architectures and perform feasibility experiments.
• Participate in product roadmap definition with Marketing and Applications engineers
• Set and defend best practices for the execution of power IC designs to ensure optimal usage of device technology for performance and robustness.
• Collaborate across Power business units on technology and IP roadmaps and best practices for power IC design

Required Skills

• Thorough understanding of the design of power MOSFET and drivers for robustness
• Expert in:
  • Power device technology
  • Analog building blocks: references, amps, oscillators, LDO’s
  • Switch-mode power conversion topologies
  • Power MOSFET and driver design
  • Precision current sensing techniques
• Familiarity with Cadence design tools
• Excellent communication skills

Required Experience

• Proven track record of leading the development of mass-produced switch-mode power IC’s
• Demonstrated strength in creative problem solving and innovation
• Proven ability to set and meet development milestones

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Integrated-FET switching regulators and PMICs
• Behavioral modeling of analog and mixed signal circuits
• Feedback control systems
• Regulated or unregulated charge pump circuits
• High precision, rail-to-rail op-amps
• Automated bench testing
• Use of tracking systems for development milestones, tasks and bug resolution
• Experience working with customers, marketing, applications, test and product engineers through the product life cycle
• BSEE with 15+ years, MSEE with 12+ years, or PhD with 10+ years
