Senior PDK (Process Design Kit) Engineer


Job Description

Our PDK team works with internal and external foundries to develop and deploy high quality PDKs on both mature and advanced nodes. This global, dynamic and fast-paced team interfaces directly with foundries and EDA tool vendors, as well as internally through foundry tech teams, packaging teams and design and layout communities to provide highly integrated, state of the art PDKs and PDK flows/solutions. The PDK is a core and essential part of all our design flows from concept to tapeout for every project.

We are looking for a Senior Engineer based out of Palm Bay, FL to enhance the team’s support for our business units and take over critical activities.

Responsibilities:

  • Install and customize foundry PDKs and provide support for product groups.
  • Develop, maintain, test, and deploy foundry PDKs, components, and methodologies to various business units, fulfilling their specific requirements.
  • Support the circuit design and layout community with PDK-related tasks, including design migrations, frontend simulation, backend layout physical verification (DRC/LVS/ERC), EMIR, and layout parasitic extraction (PEX/QRC/StarRC).
  • Set up PDKs to support digital on top design methodologies.
  • Generate internal training material on PDK-supported flows for design teams.
  • Support, develop, and maintain components and scripts required for internal PDKs and for the design community.
  • Ensure PDKs are compatible with the latest EDA tools and provide feedback and bug reports to EDA vendors as needed.
  • Innovate new processes and procedures to quickly achieve solutions to complex problems.
  • Maintain skills to ensure competence in all assigned responsibilities.
  • Contribute to the definition, documentation, management, and continual improvement of processes to align with key stakeholders’ needs and requirements.
  • Align with manager’s goals and initiatives to meet agreed-upon objectives and key performance indicators (KPIs).

Qualifications

  • ​​​​​Education: Bachelor or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent degree.
  • Experience: 4-5 years of experience in PDK's. 
  • Experience with Python or any other programming languages. 
  • Good knowledge of CMOS fundamentals with background in electrical engineering or semiconductor physics.
  • Knowledge of PDKs and their internal components: PCell, CDF, Tech files, DRC/LVS/PEX, EMIR etc.
  • Knowledge of SKILL, Shell scripting & programming
  • Understanding of design management systems & LSF from a user perspective
  • Strong support and debugging capability.
  • This is an on-site position in Morrisville, NC, or Palm Bay, FL. At this time, Renesas is not offering relocation assistance.
