Senior Director of Design Engineering

About the team

As part of Performance Computing Power business unit, you will oversee the development of our next-generation power management IC’s for the high performance computing market.  This business unit is a key driver of growth within Renesas’ larger Power Products Group.

Your Role

As Sr. Director of Engineering you will coordinate cross-functional activities within the Performance Computing Power business unit and across the larger Power Product group to execute the power management products roadmap serving computing customers from client to cloud.  You will be responsible for leading and growing a global IC design organization and driving business growth. 

The role will set and execute the strategy for power management ICs and integrated modules for computing applications. You will be primarily responsible for product execution through the full IC design cycle which spans product concept through production release.  You will also work closely with the Marketing, Packaging, CAD, Product and Test, and Fab teams to set the investment direction for silicon IP, CAD tools, process technology and packaging/module roadmaps.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Product Line Directors within the BU to prioritize near-term product execution imperatives and long-term strategic initiatives
• Synthesize technical goals from business strategy
  • Define design IP, process technology, and packaging requirements to meet portfolio performance and cost targets
  • Identify and adopt tools and methodologies for ongoing improvements in development time and product quality
  • Work with other BU’s to integrate new capabilities into the design process
  • Align product development plans to leverage capabilities
• Steer Power Products Group technology and packaging roadmaps for long term competitiveness
• Grow the design organization with top talent in support of product roadmap
• Collaborate within the larger design community on sharing of IP, resources, methodologies, and knowhow
• Cultivate a culture of excellence with a commitment to exceed customer expectations

• driving a successful design organization
• managing the development of commercially successful power IC products
• building, retaining, and managing a global team

Strong communications skills and broad technical skills are essential.  This is a highly visible role in which the organization will look to you as the guide for developing a world class Industrial Power IP portfolio. 

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related fields and 15+ years of related professional experience. Master’s degree in Engineering with 10-12 years of experience.
