Principle Quality Assurance Engineer


Job Description

Renesas is seeking for a supplier quality engineer for its WLCSP package and foundry. The Subcontractor Quality Engineer is responsible for providing support of Supplier Quality Systems through identification and evaluation of key process metrics, verification of Renesas specific requirements, support of Quality and risk mitigation activities, continuous improvements, audits and implementation of best-known-practices. This role ensures that established manufacturing inspection, sampling and statistical process control procedures are followed and assure compliance to in-house and/or external specifications and standards, such as ISO9001, ISO14001, ISO/TS16949 wherever applicable.

Key Responsibilities

1. Supplier Quality Management & Liaison

Act as the primary quality interface between suppliers and Renesas, ensuring alignment with quality requirements and expectations.

2. Quality Excursion Management & Corrective Actions

Lead the investigation of quality issues using structured problem-solving methodologies (e.g., 8D) and drive effective corrective and preventive actions to closure.

3. Supplier Audit, Certification & Change Control

Maintain and execute the supplier audit program and support supplier process/material change management and site certification activities.

4. New Supplier Assessment & Qualification

Provide quality leadership in the evaluation and qualification of new subcontractors supporting Automotive, High Reliability, Industrial, and Commercial markets.

5. Continuous Improvement Leadership

Analyze quality trends, manage improvement projects, and influence cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement at subcontractor sites.

6. Training & Best Practice Deployment

Deliver supplier quality training and support the development and deployment of best-known practices across subcontracted manufacturing operations. 


Qualifications

Qualifications and Skills

  • Degree in electrical engineering or relevant field
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in supplier quality management, including supplier selection, quality improvement, and manufacturing excursion response
  • Proven experience in semiconductor processes (Foundry, Assembly, Test)
  • Hands-on experience with problem-solving methodologies such as 8D, 5-Why, and Fishbone analysis
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skulls when working with internal and external functional groups.
  • Third-party audit certification for ISO9001 and IATF16949

Preferred

  • Experience or knowledge of advanced semiconductor packaging (e.g., WLCSP) and Foundry
  • Knowledge and practical use of VDA6.3
  • Proven ability to influence suppliers and drive timely resolution of quality issues
  • Experience working in a regional or global supplier quality environment
