Principal /Sr. Staff Strategy Sourcing Specialist- NPI & Capacity
This strategic procurement role connects early NPI sourcing readiness, supplier segmentation, and mid/long-term capacity strategy before mass production handover. The role works closely with Product Group, package/test engineering teams, Supply Chain Management, OSAT Strategy buyers, and suppliers to ensure sourcing readiness, supplier capability alignment, and proactive capacity risk management.
1. NPI Sourcing Program Control
- Own Procurement’s NPI readiness tracking before mass production handover.
- Coordinate alignment among Product Group, package/test engineering teams, Supply Chain Management, assigned OSAT buyers, and suppliers.
- Track Technical Definition / RFQ readiness, supplier capability, cost, schedule, capacity, and open risks.
- Prepare clear sourcing assumptions, supplier selection rationale, and risk items before handover to the assigned OSAT buyer.
2. Supplier Segmentation Ownership
- Lead the supplier segmentation framework from Procurement side, with alignment from package and test engineering teams.
- Periodically update segmentation based on supply performance, customer demand, technology requirements, and market situation.
- Use segmentation results to guide RFQ target supplier selection, capacity preparation, and strategic supplier development.
- Maintain clear documentation for preferred suppliers, backup suppliers, and exception cases.
3. Mid/Long-Term Capacity Strategy
- Monitor supply constraints across critical materials, testers/equipment, and bottleneck processes.
- Interface with Product Group business planning and Supply Chain Management to understand future demand outlook and required capacity actions.
- Drive early risk identification and mitigation planning before capacity gaps become urgent.
4. Cross-Functional Leadership and Communication
- Serve as the single Procurement interface for NPI readiness and capacity-related strategic topics.
- Prepare management-level updates on NPI sourcing readiness, supplier segmentation changes, capacity risks, and mitigation actions.
- Drive cross-functional alignment with Engineering, Product Group, Supply Chain Management, suppliers, and internal Procurement stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s degree or above in Engineering, Business, Supply Chain, or related field.
- 10+ years of relevant experience in procurement, sourcing, supply chain, program management, semiconductor manufacturing, or supplier management.
- Strong semiconductor supply chain background is required; experience in OSAT, packaging, testing, substrate, material, equipment, or foundry-related areas is strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of NPI development flow, RFQ process, supplier selection, capacity planning, and supply risk management.
- Experience working with Engineering, Product Groups, Supply Chain Management, suppliers, and senior stakeholders.
- Strong communication, project management, analytical, and stakeholder-management skills.
- Fluent English communication is required; Japanese capability is a plus.
- Advanced Excel and data analysis skills; PowerPoint for management presentations.
Preferred Capabilities
- Experience in supplier segmentation, strategic sourcing, or supplier portfolio management.
- Knowledge of packaging / test technologies and bottleneck processes such as bumping, FSM/BGBM, testers, and equipment capacity.
- Ability to translate business demand and technical requirements into sourcing and capacity strategy.
- Ability to operate beyond traditional buyer execution by connecting engineering requirements, supplier capability, demand outlook, and long-term risks
