Principal Software Engineer

Renesas Bangalore is seeking a Principal Software Developement Engineer in Test with strong Python development and software architecture expertise to design and enhance GUI test automation frameworks, testing tools, and automated test suites in a fast-paced software, hardware, and firmware environment.

The role involves collaborating with development and QA teams to ensure high-quality, reliable software releases for industry-leading digital controller products. Key responsibilities include defining test automation architecture, developing automation solutions, executing testing strategies, analyzing results, debugging issues, and driving quality improvements.

Ideal candidates will have deep software engineering experience, a strong quality mindset, hands-on automation expertise, and the ability to work closely with cross-functional teams on complex technical challenges involving software and hardware.

Key Responsibilities:

Design and develop test automation frameworks, tools, and test suites.
• Execute automated/manual tests and report defects and coverage.
• Debug test failures and support root-cause analysis.
• Leverage AI to enhance test quality, coverage, and efficiency.
• Collaborate with global software, hardware, and firmware teams.
• Manage priorities in a fast-paced environment while driving quality improvements.
• Identify risks and recommend product, testing, and process improvements.

Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or similar 

Experience: 15+ years in software development, including 5+ years in Python and experience with Agentic AI.

Technical Proficiency:

Strong expertise in Python automation frameworks, test tools, APIs, and HW/SW/FW integration.

Experience with AI-powered development tools (GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, etc.).

Proficiency in test automation tools such as Squish, TestComplete, Ranorex, or Selenium.

• Experience in test data management and end-to-end testing (unit, integration, system, and exploratory).
• Strong mentoring, code review, and test automation architecture skills.
• Expertise with software development tools like Jira, Git, QA best practices, and Software development lifecycles.
• Excellent analytical, communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications: 

Additional programming experience (e.g., Java, Kotlin) and ability to learn new languages quickly.
• Experience with electronics, microcontrollers, and communication protocols.
• Knowledge of DevOps, CI/CD, and automated test infrastructure.
• Software QA experience with IC/Power Engineering background preferred.
