Principal Layout Designer

Reporting to the Director of Design Engineering you will be responsible for top-level IC floor planning, block level layouts, chip integration, physical verification and mask preparation. You will work with design engineers to ensure layout quality and will work with other mask designers in a team project environment.  You will also work with CAD engineers for on-going improvements to our PDKs and design environment. have responsibility for the design, verification and validation of power management IC’s.

Required Skills

• 15+​ years’ experience in analog integrated circuit layout
• Solid knowledge of industry standard layout conventions and rules for reducing layout risk
• Proficiency with Cadence layout verification and extraction
• Analog circuit layout
  • Device matching
  • Routing flow and shielding for analog signals, logic signals, biases, clocks
• Demonstrated working Silicon in BCD and advanced CMOS technologies

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Experience in the layout of ADCs, DACs, RF, PLLs, LDOs, Bandgaps
• Experience in isolated processes for high-voltage and switching power regulators
• Mixed-signal chip assembly
• Abstract and DEF/LEF generation for auto-routing
• Place and route experience for logic is a plus
• Experience creating an IC floor plan for a mixed-signal SOC
• Area estimation
• Power flow
• Signal flow
• ESD electrical and spacing requirements
• Bond diagrams for IC packaging
• Experience in leading the tape-out process and working with the foundry for mask making
• Experience in layout of power management ICs is a plus. Understanding of thermal considerations, latchup, ESD, noise, substrate injection, parasitic extractions and optimized power routing
• Analog circuit design knowledge is a plus
• Engineering degree is a plus
