Principal Application Engineer
Renesas is seeking module design/system engineer for its AI High Density Power Modules product families. These products push the technology limits of speed, density, and efficiency and deliver power to the highest performance computing and connectivity functions. Typical applications include Artificial Intelligence, High Performance Networking, and other High Performance Computing applications. This role sits within our Performance Computing Power business, which is one of the fastest-growing and exciting product lines at Renesas, with a multi-market scope and a large product development team.
The ideal candidate will help shape the future of powering the AI systems by working directly with customers to understand their power system requirements and converting them to a Renesas power module solution. Working from customer requirement to concept through product realization you will be a key to generating a solution. Cross-functional team work with other functional experts will be essential to generate a high performance, quality design.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and development of multi-phase AI power module products.
- Customize and optimize magnetic design to optimize module performance.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams (mechanical, software, and systems engineering) to ensure seamless integration of power modules within larger electrical systems and drive alignment on thermal and power requirements.
- Conduct detailed thermal and electrical simulations to refine power module layouts, optimize heat dissipation pathways, and ensure compliance with industry standards.
- Generate detailed documentation of simulation results for internal and external stakeholders.
- Develop test plans, test documentation and validation tests.
- Assist in the validation of models through comparison with experimental data and field measurements.
- Work with our internal and external manufacturing partners to prototype designs and bring them to manufacturing.
- MSEE /BSEE with 10+ years of experience in the mechanical design and development of high-volume electronics products.
- Experience in power modules and thermal analysis is a plus.
- Experience in PCB assembly process is preferred.
- Solid analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills

The expected annual pay range for this position is $180K-$250K. This position is also eligible for bonus opportunities. Please note that final offer amount will be dependent on geographic location, applicable experience, and skillset of the candidate.
