Job Description

Reporting to the Director of Design Engineering you will have responsibility for the design, verification and validation of power management IC’s. Your responsibilities encompass the full design cycle which spans product definition through IC validation.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design of power management IC’s
  • Specify/select process technology to meet efficiency, cost and robustness requirements
  • Define and quantify tradeoffs among IC architectures and perform feasibility experiments
  • Participate in product definition with Marketing and Applications engineers
  • Oversee the work of other designers and mask layout staff
  • Participate in business planning support including: scheduling, resource allocation, development cost and product unit cost analyses
  • Write design specifications, IC verification and validation plans
  • Participate in test specification development and Test Engineering support
  • Execute lab validation and datasheet compliance testing

Qualifications

Required Skills

  • Thorough understanding of the design of power MOSFET and drivers for robustness
  • Expert in:
  • BCD design: Low-voltage CMOS (1V - 5V), High-voltage DMOS (12V-100V)
  • Analog building blocks: references, amps, oscillators, LDO’s
  • Switch-mode power conversion topologies
  • Power MOSFET and driver design
  • Precision current sensing techniques
  • Familiarity with Cadence design tools
  • Excellent communication skills

Required Experience

  • Proven track record of leading the development of mass-produced switch-mode power IC’s
  • Demonstrated strength in creative problem solving and innovation
  • Proven ability to set and meet development milestones

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Integrated-FET switching regulators and PMICs
  • Behavioral modeling of analog and mixed signal circuits
  • Feedback control systems
  • Regulated or unregulated charge pump circuits
  • High precision, rail-to-rail op-amps
  • Automated bench testing
  • Use of tracking systems for development milestones, tasks and bug resolution
  • Experience working with customers, marketing, applications, test and product engineers through the product life cycle 
  • BSEE with 15+ years, MSEE with 12+ years, or PhD with 10+ years
