IT Manager/Solution Architect- SAP SD (S4HANA & ECC)

Background of hiring/Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled IT Manager with extensive experience in SAP SD (Sales and Distribution) modules across both S/4HANA and ECC environments. This role is crucial in overseeing the design, implementation, and maintenance of SAP SD solutions to support our business operations based in Japan.

Job Description/Key Responsibilities

Business Analysis & Process Re-engineering

• Translate complex business requirements into comprehensive and detailed functional specifications.
• Identify approaches for new business processes and recommend improvements to automate or simplify existing processes related to pricing, quoting, contract management, order intake, delivery, invoices, and customer payments.
• Participate and work with internal leads, external vendors and consultants for SAP SD support, upgrades, and enhancements.
• Communicate complex information in a clear, compelling, and influential manner.
• Support creation of SOPs and enhance documentation practices to ensure clarity, accuracy, and ease of understanding.
• Provide training and knowledge transfer sessions to end-users and IT staff on SAP SD functionalities, best practices, and new features.

SAP Expertise

• Participate and excel assigned deliverables within end-to-end implementation projects for SAP SD modules in both S/4HANA and ECC systems.
• Be responsible to the assigned functional integration aspects of SAP SD with other SAP modules (e.g., FI, MM) and external systems. Provide ongoing support and troubleshooting for SD-related issues.
• Implement and support business processes such as B2B (Business-to-Business), Make-to-Stock, VMI (Vendor Managed Inventory), Contract Manufacturing, Vendor Consignment, Subcontracting, 3rd Party, Inter-company sales, Back Order Processing, Rebates and Settlement management.
• Sales Order management in SAP S/4 HANA: Processes sales orders, including pricing, availability, and delivery schedules.
•  Pricing and condition techniques: Map & configure business requirements pricing strategies, discounts, and applicable taxes into SAP.
• Customize and develop SAP SD solutions, including user exits, and enhancements, to address any gaps between standard SAP functionality and specific business needs.
•  Manage and support all Sales and Distribution related Data Workflows, including all Partner EDI communications, interfaces, and APIs with external applications

Collaboration

• Ability to collaborate with a team of SAP SD consultants and IT professionals primarily locally and if needed across the globe/time zones. Foster a collaborative environment, provide guidance, and ensure his/her team meets against greater project deadlines and objectives.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to optimize sales and distribution processes using SAP SD functionalities.
• Work closely with other inhouse SAP SMEs (such as SAP architects and infrastructure leads) to implement and manage change control processes related to SAP SD configurations and customizations. Ensure smooth transitions and minimal disruption to business operations.

Risk Management And Quality Assurance

• Identify risks associated with SAP SD implementations and operations in the area responsible. Develop mitigation strategies to minimize impact on business continuity.
• Ensure the quality of deliverables meets high standards and expectations.
• Ensure adherence to IT policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Implement and monitor security measures to protect SAP SD data and systems.

Strategic Management & Leadership

• Lead, mentor, and manage a small team of analysts, providing guidance and support to ensure high performance and professional growth.

• Monitor your team’s progress, allocate resources, and ensure projects are delivered on time.
  • Contribute to greater project plans, timelines, and budgets for SAP SD initiatives.
  • Evaluate vendor performance and manage relationships effectively.

• Excellent communication skills in English and Japanese (both written and verbal).
• Minimum 5 years of SAP implementation experience in IT management with 2-4 years of team lead, manager capacity within a strong practice focus on SAP SD modules, including significant exposure to both S/4HANA and ECC environments.
• Proven track record of an important member within a successful SAP SD implementations and support within large-scale international organizations in Hi-Tech/Semiconductor industries.
• Expertise in SAP SD module configuration, customization, and integration with other SAP modules (e.g., FI, MM).
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to analyze complex business requirements and translate them into SAP SD solutions.
• Familiarity with waterfall, agile, hybrid methodologies, standard project delivery process, change management, incident management.
• Comfortable with project management tools such as JIRA, ALM, CONFLUENCE, SERVICENOW, SHAREPOINT, SOLMAN.
• Provide timeline and affective coaching and feedback to the team.

• Potential in strong next level leadership and team management skills, with experience in leading cross-functional teams, managing diverse stakeholders and managing 2-5 local staff.
• SAP certifications in SAP SD module (e.g., SAP Certified Application Associate - SAP Sales and Distribution).
• Experience with SAP S/4HANA and ECC, including migration and integration projects.
• Project management certifications (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2) would be advantageous.
