Job Description

The Battery Management System Business Division (BMS) is seeking a Director of Firmware. This is an excellent opportunity to take a leadership role in driving Renesas’s growth in the exciting battery management system industry. It will also be an opportunity to work with the product lines to position Renesas BMS's business division for continued growth.

What we need:

We are looking for a driven, creative, and highly motivated individual with the ability to standardize development flow for all FW resources in battery management & Gauging, USB Power Delivery, etc., scale the organization globally, and cross-pollinate expertise in different groups. This person will work with multiple product lines both within and outside the BMS business division to drive maximum synergy, IP reuse, execution, and scale of the organization. This position requires a deep understanding of battery management & gauging algorithm, USB Power Delivery protocol, and strong verbal and written communication skills with a demonstrated ability to work across functional disciplines in support of delivering products to the market. Success requires a clear understanding of battery management system technology with deep knowledge of Battery Management IC (BMIC), Fuel Gauge IC (FGIC), USB-PD, and Battery Charger technologies. The position requires international travel.

What You’ll do

  • Develop cohesive firmware strategy to maximize firmware IP reuse and development flow standardization.
  • Drive key customer engagements to facilitate product definition and design wins.
  • Work closely with other R&D disciplines to generate winning technical proposals by comprehending the true needs of customer and segments in addition to actively ensuring execution.
  • Stay abreast of market conditions; develop recommendations for product and/or market development.
  • Create technical training material and provide enablement materials to the FAEs and WW sales organization.
     

Qualifications

  • MSEE (or equivalent) required
  • 10+ years experience in battery management & gauging firmware.
  • Strong technical knowledge of battery management system.
  • Must possess business acumen and excellent writing and presentation skills. 
  • International travel required.
