Job Description

This role is an entry-level opportunity for a qualified individual to join Renesas’ Sales Organization, working under the guidance of a senior-level Field Applications Engineer.

The engineer in this position will collaborate with the senior-level Field Applications Engineer to contribute to the development of new customer designs, conduct technical reviews and testing, offer analysis, troubleshoot efforts, and conduct evaluations of new products. Substantial hands-on support for the local lab will be a crucial aspect of the role, with a primary focus on understanding and showcasing Renesas’ value proposition, addressing technical concerns, and ensuring customers successfully use Renesas products.

Upon transitioning to a full-time Field-Based Applications Engineer, you will become the primary technical resource for pre-sales and post-sales support in your region. Your main responsibility will be to secure design wins across a diverse customer base.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Engage with customers, utilizing your analog and power expertise to identify design opportunities, promote Renesas products, demonstrate technology, overcome customer obstacles, and advance opportunities to design wins.
  • Provide real-time support in both reactive and proactive modes for key customers and the Renesas Sales/REP team.
  • Support customers on-site during system-related bring-up or troubleshooting of Renesas products-related issues.
  • Conduct schematic/layout reviews on-site with customers.
  • Quickly troubleshoot power circuits, assist with external component selection and board layout, lead technical discussions, and present technical features and benefits of Renesas products.
  • Achieve assigned design win and revenue goals for Renesas products.
  • Guide the value and strategic fit of the assigned product family, working with account teams to establish sales goals and strategy.
  • Deliver competitive updates to the field and contribute to the development of strategic plans.
  • Establish dialogue with marketing and management teams of the assigned product lines, updating them on progress and market dynamics.
  • Modify evaluation boards as required for customer demos, deliver demos to customer sites, and "bring up" and debug customer boards in the lab.
  • Lead the effort for technical discovery on key customer designs, establishing close relationships with designers, component engineers, the local rep sales team, and distributors.

Qualifications

  • Applicants for this position must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Renesas is unable to sponsor applicants for work visas for this position

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering.
  • Candidate's graduation date has to be in 2023 OR 2024. 
  • Candidate MUST be located in Austin TX.
  • Knowledge of the power semiconductor industry is a plus.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills are mandatory for significant customer interaction.
  • Motivated team player with the capability to work independently, follow instructions, handle multiple tasks concurrently, and communicate effectively. Additionally, adept at collaborative teamwork and contributing positively to team dynamics.
  • Highly driven, customer-focused, with excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
