Sr Staff Engineer, SoC Application Engineering
Responsibilities:
- Work independently with minimal direction to provide product definition, design deliverables, technical design reviews, and analysis and troubleshooting of prototype and production boards.
- Perform schematic design and PCB layout for complex SoC‑based systems, based on system requirements, datasheets, vendor reference designs, and engineering best practices.
- Review schematics and PCB layouts using established design checklists and best practices. Provide detailed, actionable feedback to designers. Update checklists as appropriate.
- Collaborate cross‑functionally with marketing, management, and engineering development teams to continuously improve the usefulness and marketability of design solutions.
- Develop, maintain, and clearly communicate system‑, block‑, and component‑level design collateral to internal teams, partners, customers, and other stakeholders.
- Engage with global teams, partners, customers, and vendors to lead technical discussions; align tasks and priorities; and build shared understanding of current and future components, requirements, standards, and automotive industry trends.
- Support marketing demo preparation, debug, and coordination activities.
- Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior applications engineers.
Requirements:
- BSEE or higher, with 10+ years of hands‑on experience in electrical hardware design, board bring‑up, debug, and prototyping for complex systems.
- Proven ability to work independently in fast‑paced environments with changing priorities; self‑sufficient, hands‑on, and a fast learner.
- Extensive experience with SoC and complex processor‑based board bring‑up, including schematic entry, PCB stack‑up definition, and high‑speed layout concepts.
- Strong knowledge of high‑speed interfaces and memory technologies, including PCIe (up to Gen6), USB 3.x, DisplayPort, DDR/LPDDR (including LPDDR5), and common peripheral buses (I²C, SPI, etc.).
- Solid understanding of signal integrity, power integrity, and EMI/EMC analysis, debug, and compliance testing, including use of simulation tools such as HyperLynx, or equivalent high‑speed simulation environments.
- Hands‑on experience with EDA tools including Altium, Cadence (OrCAD/Allegro).
- Proficient with laboratory test and measurement equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, power supplies, and debuggers.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to document design methodology and results clearly and effectively.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; English proficiency at CEFR B2 level or higher; collaborative team player.
- Strong Windows OS experience and working knowledge of Linux (CLI).
- Able to travel both domestic and international.
