This is an opportunity to join a top-notch Digital Power Applications Team with Renesas Electronics America’s leading power management product line. As part of one of Renesas’s most prominent Power Management Applications Groups, you will help develop, qualify, design-in, and support next-generation IC products for Infrastructure applications such as servers, datacenters, network switches, and desktop computers.


Whom we are seeking: 

The Infrastructure Digital Power Applications team is seeking a Staff Applications Engineer in the power devices field who is excited about working on cutting edge power solutions for server and infrastructure processor/SOC applications. You will utilize knowledge of power MOSFET’s, power stage assemblies, simulation, and device characterization to help advance our Smart Power Stage development efforts. Excellent communication skills and technical knowledge are required as you will work across geographies both internally and in support of our global customer base.  We’re looking for someone eager to learn, ready to hit the ground running, and help define the new frontier of Digital Multiphase power management. If you like problem-solving and enjoy hands-on engineering teamwork that spans across different geographies, we’d like to hear from you. This position is based in our Tempe, AZ facility.


Seeking an individual to work on cutting edge Smart Power Stage devices.  Smart Power Stages are integral to our high performance digital voltage regulation solutions.  A successful candidate will have strong desire and ability to work in a technically challenging environment with other top performers to continue Intersil’s development of industry leading power system solutions. 


This is an opportunity to contribute in a top tier technical team developing industry leading power system solutions.  To succeed, you will need to combine strong technical understanding of power semiconductor performance tradeoffs with excellent problem solving skills in a team environment.



Support the development of best in class power MOSFET devices for Smart Power Stage applications.  Success in this position requires working between functional groups to clearly understand market requirements, provide design targets, and verify performance at both the device and system level.

  • Develop power loss models to aid device design in making parametric tradeoffs.
  • Benchmark competitive products.
  • Characterize power devices and complete power stage assemblies.
  • Analyze power losses to provide insight to support smart driver designs.
  • Develop test strategies to verify system level robustness of final designs.



  • Experience automating data collection.
  • Experience modeling power converter losses and/or experience in power semiconductor characterization.
  • Proficiency with ckt simulation and PCB CAD tools.
  • Excellent lab based problem solving skills.  Ability to follow data to root cause. 



  • BS or MS in Engineering or technical equivalent and a minimum of 10 years experience in the power management industry.
