Description:  JOB TITLE: Staff Customer Quality Engineer


Responsible for overall quality management support for customers in their region. Work with cross-functional teams for Customer Returns and drive root cause determination. The team may include Design, Operations, Product/Test Engineering, Sales/Marketing, Applications, Product Quality and Failure Analysis which are primarily located in the US. Implement effective containment and corrective actions, and insuring preventive actions are taken to prevent reoccurrence. Effectively drive Foundry, Test and Assembly subcontractors to address quality issues with Supplier Quality team in a timely manner.

Attend team meetings, generate 8D corrective action reports and customer presentations, manage projects such as EOS (electrical overstress) and NTF (no trouble found) reduction. Identify trends, manage projects and influence teams to drive overall reduction in ppm (defective parts per million), incident cycle time, and return incidents.

Assist with PCN product change notification approval from customers. Use JMP data analysis tools to understand any lot specific issues from fab/assembly or Test. Use Traceability/Quarantine tool to check lot history for quality issues and place lots on hold to protect customers as needed.

Job will require written and verbal communication in English as key role will require communicating accurate and detailed information regarding customer failures complaints so actions such as test verification and failure analysis can proceed efficiently without delay, and able to filter non-value added inquiries and requests.


1. BS in Electrical Engineering with 7 years experience in the electronics/IC industry and strong understanding of Semiconductor IC Manufacturing process.

2. Proven knowledge and ability to analyze and troubleshoot semiconductor devices in customer applications and accurately determine the assignable cause of the failure.

3. Ability to perform 1st level failure analysis such as curve trace and bench verification

4. Excellent problem solving skills and use of 8D, 5-Why, 5M, and fishbone. Experience with Automotive customers is a plus.

5. Strong working knowledge of EOS/ESD detection and prevention methods with experience in performing ESD audits

6. Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills are required as well as strong English business writing and speaking skills.

7. CQE should have experience managing customer’s expectations with strong emphasis on tactful problem resolution leading to favorable outcomes for all parties.
