Title:  Digital Field Applications Engineer

The IoT and Infrastructure Team is seeking an enthusiastic Digital Field Application Engineer who will be responsible and accepts the role as part of a strategic sales team driving opportunity discovery and design wins at strategic and assigned customer accounts. Tasks include customer portfolio presentations, providing customer design proposals utilizing Renesas product solutions, technical reviews and analysis, and customer debug efforts with a specialty in digital and wireless connectivity. The candidate should have hands-on experience in high performance MCU and MPU and wireless connectivity HW/SW development and enjoys both presenting to a large group of individuals as well as working in the lab to validate customer designs according to application requirements.

 • Manage technical support for Tier 1 accounts, and select Mass Market accounts.
• Provide pre-sales promotion and post-sales support including product selection, product information, technical consultation, roadmaps, resolving support issues, design assistance, project development and debugging, and support Sales Manager in selecting samples and evaluation kits.

Collaborate with associated BU Marketing and vertical sales teams to meet individual design-in targets.
Co-work with reps & distributors to explore the new business opportunity and support presales and promotional activities.

Explore new application/market with objectives to provide BU the regional marketing intelligence as well as proposal for new product planning.

• Cross-functional collaboration with internal Renesas resources including Sales, Marketing, FAE, AE, Product Line, and Operations personnel to close designs and successfully help customer launch products to market.
• Identify customer intelligence including product requirements, decision criteria, roadblocks, timeline, budget, and competition.
• Develop business relations by promoting Renesas image and products 
• Lead and drive new business demand creation to secure successful design win penetrations at customers R&D. 
• Provide close loop communication to ensure smooth support and responsiveness to customers.

• Provide all types of technical support leading to design wins, as well as on-going support for existing products and customer programs as needed. These include schematic reviews, layout reviews, board bring ups, tuning/optimization and full validation.

• Debug solution in customer application on-site at customer labs or at Renesas Labs.

• Collaborate with other FAEs and communicate with Renesas Central Applications and Design Teams to support customer design-in.

• Maintain and develop understanding of customer's products.

• Understand system solution design decisions and trade-offs (including performance/power/features/real estate) and make recommendations on product selection for the desired cost/benefit ratio


• BSEE or BSCS or equivalent 

Must be fluent in English and Portuguese. Spanish is a plus.

• 3 to 5 years’ experience in related areas with demonstrated ability to build strong, influential relationships in a technical sales environment, direct experience in sales/FAE is preferred.
• Demonstrated strong MCU and MPU SW and HW problem solving skills.
• Demonstrated strong schematic and C/C++ development/problem solving skills.
• Demonstrated strong analytical and problem solving skills.
• Strong written/verbal communication and negotiation skills.

• Proficient with product characterization equipment such as oscilloscope, power supplies, electronic load, spectrum analyzer, network analyzer, and function generator.
• Familiar with MCU and MPU architectures of mobile and other battery powered devices.
• Familiarity with I2C, PMBUS, SPI, SPMI enabled power management devices.

• Familiarity with Motor control technology, as well as an understanding of power and timing and RF in circuit designs is a plus.
• Being proactive and willing to take initiatives.
• Ability to effectively balance strong technical skills with solid relationship-building and account management capabilities.

• Excellent interpersonal skills are mandatory, as customer interface will be a significant aspect of the job.

• Personable with ability to develop rapport and trust with customers and colleagues alike

• Must be a self-motivated team player who is able to take direction, manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and communicate effectively

Besides very good technical semiconductor knowhow, the skills to drive projects, issues, and business independently is highly relevant.
