System Engineering Summer Intern (Software)

The SST group has a summer Intern opening in the System Engineering group. The individual is part an overall team that researches, architects, designs and builds system end products and modules using Renesas components.

The individual is part of a team that exposes him/her to all facets of the design cycle. He/She will have an opportunity to participate in each phase of the project. The position requires one to research the final product/ problem, formulate thoughts and ideas utilizing their own creative juices as well as receiving inputs from peers and the product line(s) and propose a solution to the problem. It is a highly interactive role. Upon review, the project is designed, debugged and demonstrated. All of which requires participation.

To solve the problem, the Intern will be in a lab setting programing micro controllers and working on system debug.  

The project requires MCU familiarity and embedded C coding which makes use of libraries and APIs.

 The intern will be exposed to Renesas proprietary FIT, FSP, PG firmware.  Knowledge of Eclipse (e2Studio) Ide is a plus.

He/ She may utilize the following lab equipment

  • Power Supplies
  • Arbitrary Waveform Generators
  • Oscilloscope
  • Logic analyzer
  • Networks Analyzer
  • Load Supplies.
  • Soldering equipment


The project services either IOT, Home automation or Industrial markets.

The individual considered for the position is either a new college grad or an attending student with 3 years education studying Computer Science or Computer Engineering. Post graduate applicants are desired. The candidate should have high energy, willingness to learn and the ability to work with others.  Ideally, the candidate has exposure and an understanding (does not need to be the expert) of hardware principles.
