Position:    Director, Emerging Technologies


Job description: Emerging business division is looking for self-starting Director of ASIC to drive next generation connectivity (4G/5G), sensors and sensor ASIC for AI-connected emerging sensing technologies. This position will report into VP of Emerging Business Division.


Location:  San Jose, CA or Dresden, Germany


Key Responsibilities:


  • Defining/Designing/Developing the next generation Emerging products in sensors, sensor ASICs and enhanced emerging connectivity.
  • Driving the product road map of Emerging business division which traverses AI-connected sensors and advanced technologies.
  • Via expert knowledge of precision analog, CMOS, power/BCD process technologies drive solution.
  • Ability to execute with clear vision of resources in analog, digital, verification, layout and physical design for components across various applications.
  • Perform design reviews and clearly document development, risks and achievements for regular updates to senior management.
  • Selects components and equipment based on analysis of specifications and reliability
  • May also review partner vendor capability to quickly support product development.
  • Working closely with specific foundries to develop devices for the emerging technologies
  • Manages marketing and customer driven activities that include silicon development of mixed signal ICs
  • Some travel required across the globe to service customers and partners.


Qualifications and Experience desired:


  • MSEE or higher in Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 12+ years' experience in Analog IC Design with strong emphasis on CMOS IC Design
  • Minimum 10+ successful product tape-outs (millions of unit sales)
  • Tier1 customer experience
  • Knowledge in component design for smartphone application (at least 8 years’ experience) or biomedical sensors or sensors in fitness/health, optical or industrial sensor applications.
  • Proven record in leading analog/power/precision analog design and integration at top level (from definition to production)
  • Excellent Communication skills (Written and Verbal) and strong documentation skills.
  • Strong attention to technical details and works with the assigned cross functional project teams
  • Highly organized and extremely self-motivated
  • Ability to work well with teammates (locally or remotely located) in a fast-paced professional environment
  • The candidate must know design flow (frontend to backend) very well.
  • Strong background in SOC design is a plus
