Renesas Electronics is a leading global semiconductor company and a premier supplier of advanced semiconductor solutions including microcontrollers, SoC solutions and a broad range of analog and power devices.  We are seeking an experienced & highly motivated person to join the Global Trade Compliance (GTC) team working out of our Palm Bay, Florida facility. This is a full-time position in a fast-paced environment.  This role is a critical part of the GTC team and involves both tactical & strategic duties. The position will report to the Director of Renesas’ Global Trade Compliance team.  



  • In-depth knowledge and ability to interpret government regulations and laws relating to ITAR, EAR, CBP, OFAC, and of trade laws and regulations outside of the U.S.
  • Manages the Trade Compliance staff located in Palm Bay, Florida
  • Strong ability to analyze and determine accurate product and technology classifications and to provide classification advice and counseling
  • Experience assessing import and export compliance scenarios
  • Facilitate, process, track, and manage export licenses, commodity jurisdiction requests, Technical Assistance Agreements, technology transfers, services, and deemed exports through DDTC and BIS  
  • Reviews and authorizes trade transactions such as, export shipment documentation, orders for export release, foreign person visit requests, employee international travel and accompanying technical data, new hire/contractor on-boarding, etc.
  • Assists and leads in process improvements and the implementation of compliance best practices, support trade related projects such as; system and process integration, import projects, modification and/or updates to trade compliance policies and procedures, internal reviews and/or audits, company-wide and new hire trade compliance training, and other projects as assigned
  • Keeps track of changes in government policies and export trends and advises senior management accordingly of significant changes and provides timely risk assessments.  In addition, establishes and maintains contacts with appropriate government licensing authorities as deemed necessary
  • Works closely with functional areas to address business concerns, plans and coordinates trade activities, and provides guidance for inquiries received from employees, management, and customers
  • Maintains all export related records including records of technical data transfers, defense services provided, and ITAR exemptions used, etc.
  • Maintains active registration with DDTC and other government agencies



  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college and a minimum of 10 years total relevant professional experience (3 years in management capacity).  A BSEE is highly desirable for this position.
  • Engineering background strongly desired to facilitate comprehensive and complex product technology discussions with engineers
  • Experience with rad hard products or 9a515 classification codes under the EAR
  • Experience assessing export and import compliance processes, procedures, and resources; preparing and reviewing export licenses; providing recommendations; and developing policies and procedures
  • Experience providing import and export classification advice and counseling
  • Experience with ITAR, EAR and OFAC; experience conducting investigations, audits, and assessments; experience navigating the relationships between various government agencies responsible for export control laws and regulations
  • Experience in processing and managing export license applications through the Departments of State and Commerce
  • General knowledge of the legal and regulatory import and export environments
  • Good writing, presentation, and verbal skills; as well as, self-motivation, organization and planning skills
  • Ability to develop good working relationships with customers, suppliers, service providers, and staff
  • Ability to exercise tact, restraint, and discretion in critical issues
  • Proven leadership skills, with the ability to develop people and act as a role model and coach
  • Good computer skills including a familiarity with on-line export compliance tools (e.g. Amber Road, MK Denial) and Microsoft Office, ACE system and EEI experience are very desirable
  • Experience with mergers and acquisitions helpful
