What we need:

The Applications team is seeking for an Applications Engineer who is technically savvy and is excited about working on cutting edge power solutions for Mobile Processor applications. You will support the development and qualification of high-performance DC-DC power converter products with Renesas’ advanced control architectures and interface with multiple departments and external customers.  The position entails participating in the entire product development cycle of power management ICs and working with cross-functional groups to continually push the envelope of technology implemented in Renesas products. We’re looking for someone eager to learn, ready to hit the ground running, and help define what Applications means for Renesas. What You’ll do

  • Contribute to the definition of innovative and differentiated products
  • Product validation and characterization (hands-on work in the lab) along with product promotion and design-in support
  • Product support of older released products
  • Technical documentation (e.g. datasheet, application note, and design guidelines) preparation for product release and support
  • Set up and execute simulations of power converter circuits and systems for development and issue resolution
  • Schematic capture and/or conduct schematic and PCB layout reviews of evaluation boards and customer board designs
  • Training of field applications engineers and customer engineers in using our products and DC-DC converters basics
  • Customer support, including on-site support, of internal and external customers both local and remote teams analyzing issues and debug options
  • Competitive analysis research to support Marketing
  • Develop system level understanding of customer applications for new product development

 

Skills You’ll Need

  • B.S. required in Electrical Engineering (MSEE preferred) with 5+ years' experience
  • Academic, Project, and/or Work experience n Power Management IC applications engineering
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and accuracy 
  • Experience with analog circuit modeling and simulation tools (e.g. Simplis, PSpice, etc.) required
  • Advanced knowledge of DC/DC converter topologies. These include Buck, Boost, Buck-Boost, charge pump converters, and LDOs
  • Excellent knowledge of control theory, closed loop compensation, stability analysis, phase margin, etc.
  • Expertise in schematic capture, PCB design tools such as OrCAD or Allegro
  • Proficient with product characterization equipment such as oscilloscope, power supplies, electronic load, spectrum analyzer, network analyzer, and function generator
  • Familiarity with analog circuits and/or IC design including op-amps, DACs, ADCs, LDOs is desirable. Experience with multi-phase Buck regulators a plus
  • Must have good written and verbal communication skills
