The Customer Quality Engineer (CQE) is responsible for the overall quality management support of Renesas customers in their region.  Primary focus will be on reduction of customer return incidents, communication of PCN change notification, improving quality/relationships reflected by customer scorecards, and performing customer visits/presentations.



  • Implement strategic field support initiatives, such as Field Failure Verification and Field Failure Analysis to drive reduction of customer quality incidences, dppm, and to resolve customer’s concerns in the field.
  • Provide accurate and detailed information regarding customer complaints, so actions such as test verification and formal failure analysis can proceed efficiently without delay.  Ability to filter non-value added inquiries/requests.
  • Establish relationships with customer Supplier Quality and understand customer’s change control requirements. 
  • Ensure timely feedback of PCN’sis fed back to the internal organization.
  • Strong leadership and project management skills to organize cross-functional internal engineering and manufacturing teams to drive root cause determination, implement effective containment and corrective actions, and insuring preventive actions are taken to prevent reoccurrence.



  • BS in Electrical Engineering and 12 years’ experience in the electronics industry; at least 8 years’ experience in the semiconductor industry with solid understanding of Semiconductor IC Manufacturing process required.
  • Proven knowledge and ability to analyze and troubleshoot semiconductor devices in customer applications and accurately determine the assignable cause of the failure.
  • Ability to perform 1st level failure analysis such as curve trace and bench verification.
  • Excellent problem solving skills and use of 8D, 5-Why, 5M, and fishbone analyses.
  • Strong working knowledge of EOS/ESD detection and prevention methods with experience in performing ESD audits.  Working knowledge of moisture sensitivity of hydroscopic materials and the appropriate handling/reflow procedures (JEDEC standard).
  • Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills are required. Excellent business writing and speaking skills in English are required.
  • CQE should have experience managing customer’s expectations with strong emphasis on tactful problem resolution leading to favorable outcomes for all parties.
