This is an opportunity to join the IoT Platform Software Team within Renesas Electronics IoT Platform Business Division. As part of this team, you’ll engineer next generation embedded security firmware solutions to drive our next generation MCU products. This position can be located in Milpitas, CA or Durham, NC.

The Software Platform Development team is seeking a seasoned and experienced Sr. Staff FW Engineer who is an embedded security expert and is excited about working on cutting edge security solutions for connected MCUs. You will be an integral part of a team developing embedded software for our next generation Arm Cortex-M based MCUs. You’ll develop with leading-edge processes and tools and interface with multiple departments and partners.  We’re looking for someone eager to learn, ready to hit the ground running, and help define what Security means for Renesas. What You'll Do:

  • Develop cryptography firmware solutions based on MCU security hardware features and low-level cryptographic firmware algorithms
  • Architect and develop security solutions for connected IoT applications
  • Define, specify and develop the trusted platform technology for the next generation of leading-edge IoT embedded platforms
  • Utilize firmware development SDLC processes and best practices to drive high performance and high-quality code and solutions
  • Work with cross-disciplinary team to define and implement security solutions


Skills You’ll Need:

  • BSCS, BSCE, or BSEE required; MSCS, MSCE, or MSEE preferred
  • 10+ years of experience with at least 5 years in embedded security
  • Expert in cryptography, embedded security and trusted platform architectures
  • Expert knowledge in the embedded implementation and use of standard cryptographic algorithms 
  • Excellent knowledge of partitioning architectures for security and device to cloud security systems and protocols
  • Experience creating secure bootloaders and other embedded security solutions
  • Expert level C and Arm Cortex-M assembly programming skills
  • Demonstrated capacity for capturing/documenting product requirements and creating design specifications
  • Hands-on system bring-up, testing, and debugging skills
  • Experience with industry leading tools and SDLC
  • Equally comfortable with precision and ambiguity
  • Team player with excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Can-do attitude with unwavering sense of urgency
