Director of Marketing –Optical Communications Products
Renesas is a leading supplier of high-speed analog ICs used in telecom and datacom networking systems.


Renesas is seeking an experienced person to lead a team of Product Managers that focus on data-center and 5G systems. Our Datacom products include Drivers, TIAs and CDRs. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the customer engagement, revenue growth and product development strategy aspects of the Datacom product line. The candidate will work with regional Sales to promote the portfolio to key customers across all geographies. They will be responsible to create revenue plans for the product family and to ramp up products into production phase. This candidate will also provide impactful leadership on future product developments, by blending their insight of the Datacom market with the key strengths of the development team, to create a differentiated and compelling product portfolio, generate business proposals for these products for management approval and drive the opportunity funnel to fulfill the revenue plan.


This position requires a close working relationship with customers and international and domestic travel. The position is based in San Jose, CA but can be flexible.



  • Leads a team of Product Marketing professionals. This is a people management position
  • Works with customers, Sales, FAEs and Application engineers to support design-in and proper support of customer development efforts
  • Manages product line forecast, pricing and design-in and design-win activities. Manages product life cycle and annual planning. Support business partnership and trade shows.
  • Develops competitive analysis, market analysis, identify gaps and pain points, and define plans with a clear value proposition and differentiations. Creates system level requirements, business plans, MRD and PRD of the products
  • Works with development engineering teams to plan new product ideas in the roadmap, specify new products and identify opportunities. 
  • Develops comprehensive business and financial plans and validate them via customer engagements. Presents plans to the executive team to achieve approval of the business case.
  • Visit / call customers and partners to present the product roadmap, and act as an evangelist of the Renesas product portfolio. Influence customers and partners to engage closely with Renesas to solve critical problems in the industry.




  • BSEE or equivalent is essential; MSEE desired and MBA is a plus.
  • 15+ years of related experience in optical Ethernet components, transceivers or systems
  • Deep understanding of telecom and datacom business trends, technology, competitors, ecosystem, and customer needs.
  • Successful track record of defining and marketing new products, and strategic thinking
  • Exceptional communication skills: presentation creation/delivery, public speaking, and written.
  • Experience working and negotiating with 3rd party partners.
  • Outstanding leadership skills and a strong drive to take ownership to accomplish objectives.
  • Ability to influence and convince internal and external customers.
  • Familiarity with Chinese language is a plus.
