Renesas is seeking an experienced person to be responsible for managing sales and design in objectives at target accounts in the automotive industry. This entails initiating and coordinating global account resources to optimize alignment with the customer resulting in revenue growth.  The role requires a highly motivated, customer oriented, Field Sales Engineer with in-depth automotive experience working with Automotive OEM’s and tier 1/2/3 customers in the automotive market. Strong communication and team-building skills are required with existing relationships at strategic customers will be required for this newly created sales position. The applicant must exhibit strong sales skills to increase the number of new opportunities and drive design-wins for Renesas.  


Responsibilities include creating sales strategies to penetrate targeted application areas, influencing the customer evaluation process for Renesas products, achieving design in/win targets, keeping account profiles and making technical presentations to customers.

  • Business Development:
    • Keep customer profile including; TAM and SAM analyses
    • Set account design in and revenue goals
    • Develop and execute detailed Sales strategies driving revenue growth
    • Forecast revenue and design-ins
    • Coordinate with sales/business development resources in other regions to support account/s
  • Customer Relationship Development:
    • Create, document, and execute relationship plans
    • Establish contacts at all multiple levels of customer organization
    • Build relationships between top management personnel
  • Reporting:
    • Reporting of new business opportunities
    • Produce weekly report
    • Provide a monthly account revenue forecast
    • Develop, execute and review account strategy with management
    • Track/manage opportunities in SalesForce  



  • OEM Account experience, automotive segment sales, BSEE or equivalent experience required, 5 years’ experience in the Automotive segment
  • Ability to develop an account strategy with a set of target customers aligned with Renesas’ strengths and potential, plan a course of action and set activities in place to support it
  • Ability to collaborate with the automotive business unit to aid in new product development, product definitions and validation, help shape the future product line
  • Knowledge of the semiconductor automotive segment, key customers and their applications are essential for success, existing relationships in sourcing and specifically engineering are critical at key customers targeted for penetration
  • In depth automotive customer knowledge and essential team skills, strong interpersonal skills with ability to interact with customers, internal BU, product line, peers and management; a sense of humor is required
  • Must be fluent in English 


Preferred Skills & Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of the applications within the automotive segment, important automotive customers and their existing programs are essential for success, existing relationships in engineering and influential decision makers at those key customers required for effectiveness
  • Semiconductor technical experience, familiarity with functional safety ISO 26262 standards, AECQ100, TS-16949 certification and the PPAP process for automotive customers
  • Knowledge or past selling experience with the following products would be ideal in this new position: custom ASICs, sensor signal conditioning, position sensing solutions for rotary, angular and linear applications
  • Experience with timing circuits, memory interface and power management IC’s are essential for new and new applications and emerging product opportunities
  • Knowledge or past selling experience with MCUs and SoC’s is a plus
  • Technical leadership: capable of combining industry trends and customer requirements with available and future technologies to recommend and suggest new products for ADAS, Infotainment, Lidar, electronic steering, cluster and body electronics, with available and future technologies to recommend and suggest new products for ADAS, Infotainment, Lidar, electronic steering, cluster and body electronics.
