This opportunity is seeking an Electrical Engineer or Computer Science Engineer with analog hardware and firmware/software experience to support for Battery Management SoC’s (BMS).  These products protect equipment that contain Lithium batteries in portable equipment such as power tools, electric bikes and other consumer devices.  The BMS is designed to monitor and protect the battery preventing it from operating outside safe regions and causing harm.  As more devices are becoming portable, this product line is a rapidly growing family and there is much demand from top customers in the industry to advance technology.  As part of one of Renesas’s most prominent Battery and Optical Business group, this Engineer will work on defining and supporting next-generation IC products for multiple fast paced consumer battery products. 
What we need:
The application team is seeking an Application Engineer who is technically savvy and is excited about supporting leading edge Battery Management Systems (BMS). You will support existing products and customers interfacing with multiple departments as well as external customers which are all around the globe.  With a wide range of responsibility, we’re looking for someone eager, ready to hit the ground running, and help our products drive Renesas to the market lead. This opportunity will allow you to open pathways to greater level of responsibility in the team and across Renesas. What You’ll do
•    Work as application engineer, understanding customer needs, solving their problems
•    Utilize lab equipment to test and debug circuits for customers
•    Assist marketing in determining performance tradeoffs during customer design phases
•    Resolve Customer’s problems using either firmware or hardware changes
•    Design reference and demo boards using schematic capture to design PCB’s using Cadence or Orcad’s tool suite
•    Write code, complete programming, testing and debugging of application board for customers
•    Act as a resource for customers and other team members, at times work independently
•    Develop technical documentation such as datasheets, user guides and application notes
•    Perform device bench characterization - ability to setup LabView code is a plus
•    Support regular peer reviews and reviews with design engineers
•    Travel to support customers, or support marketing or gain product feedback

Skills You’ll Need
•    B.A./B.S. or higher required preferably in engineering, engineering management required
•    Prefer experience with analog circuitry and embedded systems firmware 
•    Experience with MCU programming using C, C++, familiarity with IDE, e2Studios, or CS+ environments
•    Ability to setup laboratory equipment for characterization of BMS products
•    Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and accuracy  
•    Design experience in CMOS/BICMOS and high-level circuitry modeling are a plus
•    Experience collaborating with remote engineering teams helpful
•    Must have highly developed written and verbal cross-functional communication skills
