Engineering Manager for Automotive Sensors (f/m/d)

based out of our Dresden office in Germany

 

To further strengthen our growing Automotive Sensors business comprising Sensor Signal Conditioners (ASICs and ASSPs), LiDAR ASICs, Position Sensors and Environmental Sensors, we are currently looking for an experienced Sr. Manager / Director of Engineering (f/m/d) to lead our Sensor Signal Conditioning ASICs engineering team in Dresden, Germany, engaged in the development of new and next generation sensor signal conditioning ICs, integrated sensors, mixed signal technologies and sensor modules for volume production besides supporting modifications to the existing products.

 

Your Role:

 

  • Manage, mentor, retain and build further a design team of 10+ IC design, verification and system engineers, also ensuring their technical guidance
  • As a Design Manager be responsible for the technical implementation and success of the assigned projects together with your engineering team – within the agreed timeline, costs, and according to our company’s design methodologies
  • Determine staffing levels and skills needed to achieve product development projects and commitments, negotiating deliverables with key partners and internal/external customers
  • Establish an initial project plan, assign project teams and support the budget and effort forecasting process for all projects supported by your team
  • Be the single point of technical contact to the Product Management until completion of the feasibility phase in the NPI stage gate process. In this role, you shall be responsible for the correctness and delivery of all relevant technical inputs
  • Establish Product Test Strategy (COGS, test flow, test coverage, quality, etc.) for the assigned products
  • Ensure execution of all product generation process deliverables like SCM, DfT, Design- and System Level Documentation, Design Verification Plan, Validation Plan, etc.
  • Organize regular Design Team meetings and Design Reviews
  • Contribute to continuous improvement activities and state-of-the-art Design Methodologies together with other design teams
  • Maximize and ensure IP-reuse and IP documentation during the NPI stage gate process
  • Inspire and foster innovation. Drive generation of Patents (IP) for the assigned product(s) and application(s)
  • Regularly report team situation and progress on NPI projects to the (Senior) Management, including timely escalations
  • Establish and maintain a collaborative working environment across relevant functional groups, design teams, departments and the product line

 

Your Profile:

 

  • Master’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Microelectronics, Microsystems or Physics
  • Minimum 6 to 8 years of proven experience in IC design and Silicon bring-up for volume production, including a minimum of 5 years of proven leadership experience in the industry
  • Hands-on and supportive management style, capable of motivating and steering team and individuals to deliver excellent results
  • Excellent knowledge on Semiconductor Device Physics and Microelectronics is required
  • Profound knowledge in IC development methodologies (Analog / Digital / DfT) is required
  • Knowledge and experience required on automotive product development (Design Engineering, Test Development, Methodology, NPI Stage Gate Process) and industry best practices
  • Knowledge and experience required on Automotive, Functional Safety and Cybersecurity development methods, processes and standards like FMEA, AEC-Q100, IATF16949, ISO26262 and ISO21434
  • A good grasp of communication interface protocols like SPI, SENT, PSI5, LIN CAN, PWM, I2C, I3C, UART, ABI, etc. is required
  • Familiarity with MEMS and Sensor Technology is desired
  • Experience with MEMS design using Finite Element Analysis (ANSYS or COMSOL) and reduced-order system modeling (SPICE, Mathematica or MATLAB) is highly welcome
  • Familiarity with industry-standard project management concepts and practices is required
  • A high level of self-motivation, open-mindedness and team playing skills is desired
  • Good communication (verbal and written), presentation and reporting skills
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken) and German would be an advantage
  • A valid work permit for Germany
  • Ability to travel both domestically and internationally (mainly within Europe)
