REA is seeking an IC Design Engineer for our Infrastructure Power team in Austin, TX.  Reporting to the Design Engineering Manager, you will have responsibility for the architecture, design, verification and validation of power management IC’s that supply power to the world’s largest and most advanced computing platforms. Your responsibilities encompass the full design cycle which spans product definition through IC validation. 

• Propose, Architect, and Design RTL in Verilog for use in a Mixed Signal SoC
• Quantify implementation tradeoffs among hardware-firmware and analog-digital approaches
• Perform feasibility experiments and proof of concept through modeling, simulation and FPGA emulation
• Contribute within a highly experienced team of engineers with extensive cross-functional skill sets
• Participate in product definition with Marketing and Applications engineers
• Write design specifications, IC verification and validation plans
• Conduct design, architecture, and verification reviews
• Participate in IC floor-planning, power-planning and physical design
• Participate in test specification development and Test Engineering support
• Execute lab validation and datasheet compliance testing

Required Skills/Experience
• Track record of innovative design and commercially successful IC’s
• Proven ability to set and meet development milestones
• Control systems
• Digital design (Verilog and/or SystemVerilog for digital design and verification)
• Digital signal processing (low-order filters, setting quantization needs, etc.)
• Excellent communication skills

Preferred Skills and Experience
• Design leadership experience on large mixed-signal SOCs
• Experience developing digital solutions with high speed serial data interfaces
• Experience in developing digital solutions for power voltage regulator systems
• Switch-mode power conversion topologies
• Analog design (does not need to be very deep, but has some full custom experience. maybe just board level)
• Mixed signal design (A/D, discrete time analog, digital controls of analog such as trimming)
• Device physics, process integration (understanding of power transistors, advanced CMOS nodes)
• Board-level design and lab work (interfacing test eq. and automation)
• Programming/scripting skills such as C, Assembly, Perl, Python, etc.
• Use of tracking systems for development milestones, tasks and bug resolution
• Experience working with customers, marketing, applications, test and product engineers through the product life cycle
